For Rob White, refereeing high school and college soccer games was a welcome stress relief. When he experienced worsening knee pain that impacted his ability to run, he was determined to get back on the field.
White sought help and underwent a double level leg osteotomy with Dr. Ajay Kanakamedala, an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care. Throughout his journey to recovery, White worked with Joseph Ladesic, DPT, a clinical specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy at Physical Therapy at St. Luke’s in Orefield.
With Ladesic’s guidance, White began riding a stationary bike just five days after the procedure, despite being on crutches for six weeks. His treatment sessions focused on adapting interventions to his schedule and lifestyle, beginning with edema management, soft tissue mobilization, and progressive return to sports. Ladesic performed walking and running analysis throughout White’s treatment, with the aim of identifying inefficiencies and ensuring he was constantly progressing towards his goals. In four months, White was back to running. You can find him back on the soccer field, knee intact!
