When Esther Mwichabe set out on her vacation, she didn’t expect to come home with an injury.
After a bad fall left her shoulder in severe pain, Mwichabe sought relief for seven months before landing at St. Luke’s. She was first treated by orthopedic surgeon Matthew Best, MD, who diagnosed the underlying problem that multiple x-rays had missed: a torn rotator cuff. After undergoing surgery, Mwichabe began working with physical therapist Sammy Asad, PT, DPT to regain her arm strength and mobility.
“Esther has made excellent progress through every phase of post-operative care,” says Asad. “Collaboration with the orthopedic team has ensured consistent healing goals. She continues to regain strength, confidence, and full functional use of her shoulder, while always carrying a positive mindset into the clinic.”
With expert care and a positive attitude, Mwichabe is well on her healing journey.
“Each session brings me closer to full recovery,” she says.
